Nasty head and chest colds had Loonie and I laid up over the weekend so Sunday it was all football, watching the snow fall and day dreaming about warmer days ahead. We didn’t get near as much snow as predicted but it’s been bitterly cold out and more of the same may be in store. Since we weren’t able to get out much at all last year, I’m bursting at the seams to be back on the trail! Unfortunately, my gut is still bursting at the seams, but I’m workin’ on it.
Apparently, master finger-style guitarist Leo Kottke had other designs concerning our plans for an April AT section hike because he’ll be in town on the day we were scheduled to hit the trail. I missed an opportunity to see him a while back and I wasn’t about to make that mistake again. So, after consulting Deep Woods, I think we can squeeze it in during May afterall, rather than holding off until June. We should be a good bit North of Damascus by the time Trail Days even starts so maybe it won’t be so crowded. We can always shift to June if something else comes up.
More to come…
